Scene Analysis
The movie scene we picked was
Reservoir Dogs “Stuck in the middle with you”

1.  Characters:

Mr. Blonde, a.k.a. Victor "Vic" Vega(Michael Madsen)
The antagonist, Standing man in suit, Evil

Officer Marvin Nash (Kirk Baltz)
Victim, Man in uniform sitting, What is used to show how evil antagonist is.

Mr. Orange, a.k.a. Freddy Newandyke(Tim Roth)
Protagonist (at scenes end), Body in background.

Setting:

The scene setting is this case is an abandoned warehouse where the group of the film are holding out. it is a broken down warehouse which reflects the group themselves as they are a group of thieves and criminals the dirtiest of the warehouse also shows this.

3.Miseenscene

In this scene it takes place in a warehouse with a big room with plenty of room for the antagonist to mock the victim. The camera plays a major role in this scene acting as POV of the characters and as a character itself. An example of this is when Mr Blonde leaves to get the gas can the camera follows him as if from the POV of someone moving up and down as a person would. With the costumes the characters are wearing they are different. The antagonist is wearing a suit and the victim is wearing a police uniform and this shows that the characters are different and stand for different things. The acting between the characters are extremely different with the antagonist seeming relaxed with what is happening while the victim is tense, upset and scared, this shows how evil the antagonist can be and when Mr Orange kills him shows that he is the “good guy” in this situation.

4.Sound/Audio:

Stuck in the middle with you was the sound track playing in the background. It seemed as if it was a song playing in Victor’ s  head as he was dancing around as he was torturing Marvin. It gave off the impression that he was insane. When he went outside the building the music stopped as he left the madness inside the building and he acted as if nothing was going on inside so that people wouldn’t suspect anything but once he re-entered the building the music picked up again.

5.Camera Angles :

At the beginning of the clip the camera is placed behind Marvin’s head so you see Victor looking down at him as if to show the audience what a pickle Marvin got himself into. When Victor starts to cut off Marvin’s ear the camera is now placed behind Victor as if again the audience is standing behind him and then the camera moves to look at the door to show that the cutting off of Marvin’s ear is so gruesome that the viewer couldn’t bear to watch so they looked away which is a POV angle. A lot of the angles used are POV (Point of view) shots. When Victor when to go outside the camera was very shaky giving the impression somebody (maybe the audience) is following him  to see what he does next.
